Arne Slot reveals details about Jayden Danns’ transfer, with a new potential move to Liverpool surfacing.

Arne Slot has acknowledged Jayden Danns as a potential new option for the central striker role, with Liverpool considering the possibility of loaning the teenager this month. Danns scored off the bench in last weekend’s 4-0 FA Cup win over Accrington Stanley, marking his second appearance of the season.

The 19-year-old, who made his senior debut last season and played in the League Cup final against Chelsea, spent much of the first half of this campaign sidelined by injury. Since returning in late November, he has scored in the UEFA Youth League draw against Girona and also netted for the under-21s in their Premier League International Cup match against Sparta Prague.

Danns was close to a summer loan move to Plymouth Argyle before injury concerns arose. Championship clubs Stoke City and Derby County are now reportedly interested in a temporary move for him during this transfer window.

With Diogo Jota’s availability for Saturday’s match at Brentford uncertain due to ongoing injury issues, Danns may feature in a Premier League matchday squad for only the second time this season. When asked if Jota’s fitness could affect the decision to loan out Danns, Slot explained, “There are many factors to consider when loaning out a player, and this could be one of them, but we also think about whether it’s beneficial for the player to get playing time and if we still need him. We already have three options for the number nine role, and while Jota’s fitness is a concern, we’re hopeful he will return soon.”

Slot added, “We have three options, but Jayden performed well when he came on, so we actually have four options. It’s up to us as a club to make the best decision for both the immediate and long-term future.”

A move to Stoke would reunite Danns with Lewis Koumas, who is currently on loan from Liverpool at the club, while Nat Phillips is also spending the season on loan

at Derby.
