Benjamin Šeško has reportedly agreed to join Arsenal, with the deadline for completing the transfer significantly shortened.

Benjamin Šeško has expressed his willingness to join Arsenal, giving the club renewed motivation to accelerate his transfer.

According to John Cross of Mirror Football, the RB Leipzig striker prefers a move to Mikel Arteta’s side over other Premier League options like Manchester United and Chelsea. Clubs in Italy have also shown interest. Arsenal initially targeted Šeško last summer, but the Slovenian forward opted to stay at Leipzig for another season, negotiating a £60 million “gentleman’s agreement” to leave in the summer of 2025. However, Leipzig may consider an early transfer if presented with a substantial offer this January.

Barcelona has also entered the race for the 21-year-old, but their financial difficulties could hinder a potential deal. Arsenal faces increasing competition for the highly-rated striker, making an early move more urgent. Alongside Šeško, the Gunners have been exploring other options, including Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao. However, Williams’ wage demands, exceeding £300,000 per week, have posed a significant challenge.

Other forwards under consideration include Dusan Vlahović of Juventus and Viktor Gyökeres of Sporting Lisbon. Arsenal is particularly keen to bolster their attack this month, given injuries to Bukayo Saka (hamstring) and Gabriel Jesus (knee), which have left the team short on offensive options.

Addressing the situation, Mikel Arteta commented ahead of Arsenal’s match against Aston Villa:
