Ruben Amorim acknowledges his error after losing his temper and breaking the TV in Manchester United’s dressing room.

Ruben Amorim has admitted he made a mistake in calling his Manchester United team potentially the worst in the club’s 147-year history. The remark followed United’s 3-1 home defeat to Brighton, and Amorim expressed frustration over the team’s regression after recent progress. At 39, the manager acknowledged he is still learning and did not intend to single out his players.

“I’m young and sometimes I make mistakes,” Amorim said during a press conference ahead of United’s Europa League match against Rangers at Old Trafford. “That’s why I usually avoid speaking after games. This time, I felt the need to talk, but I was nervous, and I said things I shouldn’t have. I’ll try to improve, but I can’t promise I won’t make mistakes again.”

Amorim also admitted to breaking a tactics screen in the dressing room out of frustration. He reflected on his poor record, having lost seven of his first 15 games, and clarified that his criticism was more self-directed than aimed at the players.

“I was speaking more about myself than my players,” he said. “I’ve lost seven games early on, and that’s not good enough. I never intentionally shift the blame to my players, but I understand how my comments might have been interpreted. Frustration can be difficult to hide.”
