Ryan Gravenberch has saved Liverpool’s owners a significant amount of money this season. They were prepared to spend big on Martin Zubimendi, but Gravenberch’s success has been a major bonus. That said, I still believe the club needs to strengthen in January. If there’s a player available who can settle in before next season and is already at the required level—whether it’s a full-back, a top goalscorer, or an elite midfielder—then Liverpool should make the move.

You’ve got to build on the current squad and ensure there’s enough depth to maintain momentum at the top of the table. If the right player is out there, bring him in as an insurance policy. As for the Champions League, while finishing first in the group is prestigious, the financial reward of €2.1m isn’t worth risking the health of key players ahead of crucial league games like Bournemouth. I’d prioritize rotating the squad and giving minutes to players like Chiesa, Elliott, Nunez, Quansah, Conor Bradley, and Tsimikas. Gakpo and Diaz can share time on the pitch, but I’d personally rest Salah and Van Dijk. The team is strong enough to compete, but securing three points against Bournemouth is far more critical.

Speaking of Bournemouth, they’ve been flying recently under Iraola, who’s done an excellent job transforming the team. They’ll be tough to beat, just like Brentford and Forest away. Kluivert has been impressive too. It’ll be a challenge, but grinding out a win there would be massive.

The next three Premier League away games—against Bournemouth, Everton, and Manchester City—are pivotal. If Liverpool can secure four points from the next two games, it’ll be a positive outcome. Everton have improved significantly under Moyes, making the derby another big test. However, the focus should remain on taking one game at a time, starting with PSV midweek and then Bournemouth on the weekend.
