During Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Bournemouth, Antoine Semenyo caused significant problems for the Reds’ full-backs. His relentless energy made him a persistent threat, leaving Trent Alexander-Arnold struggling to contain him.
Despite missing two clear chances, Semenyo remained dangerous in attack, and had he not been up against the defensive duo of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté, he might have had a much bigger impact on the scoresheet.
Additionally, Alisson Becker’s outstanding performance, making four crucial saves, denied the Ghanaian forward the chance to add to his tally of 10 goal contributions this season. Against a less resolute defense, he could have easily turned his performance into a statement with a couple of goals.
Although Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the table to nine points, their victory was entirely down to Salah’s brilliance. The Egyptian converted a penalty won by Gakpo and later finished clinically after beating Milos Kerkez in the box.
Could Semenyo Replace Salah at Anfield?
With Salah’s contract situation still unresolved, his departure remains a possibility this summer. While Bournemouth would not let Semenyo leave without resistance, he could emerge as a viable successor if Liverpool’s star winger moves on.
Furthermore, some of the club’s less consistent attackers will likely be evaluated at the season’s end, potentially leading to squad reinforcements. Semenyo’s raw, energetic playing style is reminiscent of how Díaz first made his mark at Anfield.
