“You understand it’s foolish” – Liverpool receive fresh Mohamed Salah warning following his latest brilliance.
Mohamed Salah’s outstanding form in the 2024/25 season continued on Saturday as he netted both goals in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over AFC Bournemouth. The Egyptian now boasts 25 goals and 17 assists in 33 appearances across all competitions, leading the race for both the Premier League Golden Boot and Playmaker award.
Despite his remarkable contributions, uncertainty over his future remains, with the 32-year-old’s contract set to expire at the end of the season. While Salah has repeatedly expressed his desire to stay at Anfield and manager Arne Slot has emphasized his wish to keep him, the forward has also acknowledged that, as things stand, he is approaching this campaign as his final one with Liverpool.
With each match-winning display, Salah increases the pressure on the club to secure his contract extension. Troy Deeney, after naming him in his BBC Sport Team of the Week, questioned why there is even a debate about his potential departure.
“The reason Liverpool won the game,” Deeney said following the victory over Bournemouth. “Salah’s penalty and then an unbelievable finish.
“You knew he was going to use his left foot for the second goal, but stopping it was another matter. It was pure quality.
“It just makes you realize how ridiculous it is that we’re even discussing the possibility of him leaving. He was outs
tanding.”
