Newcastle United couldn’t help but mock Arsenal after defeating them 4-0 on aggregate across both legs to secure a spot in the Carabao Cup final.

The Magpies took a 2-0 lead in the first leg at the Emirates, courtesy of goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon. Eddie Howe’s side then outplayed Mikel Arteta’s team once again at St. James’ Park, delivering a dominant performance.

Jacob Murphy struck first just moments after Martin Ødegaard hit the post, and Gordon extended the aggregate lead early in the second half after David Raya’s misplaced pass put Declan Rice under pressure, allowing the winger to capitalize. Backed by a lively home crowd, Newcastle overpowered Arsenal and will now face either Spurs or Liverpool at Wembley as they aim to end their 70-year trophy drought.

Following Arsenal’s first-leg loss, Arteta had criticized the Puma ball used in the Carabao Cup, claiming it was unpredictable in flight. Newcastle fans seized on this, chanting “It must be the ball” during the match. The club’s social media team joined in, posting an image of the yellow match ball with the caption, “The culprit:”—a dig that sparked plenty of reactions online.

Additionally, fans speculated that Gordon subtly mocked Arsenal in his post-match interview when he stressed the importance of staying humble—seemingly referencing Erling Haaland’s comment that Arsenal used as motivation in their 5-1 win over Manchester City.
