A highly debated tier list ranks the atmosphere of every English club from the loudest to the quietest, sparking controversy.
A ranking of stadium atmospheres across the top four divisions of English football has sparked debate, categorizing all 92 clubs from the loudest to the quietest.
The list includes all 20 Premier League stadiums, along with 24 from each of the EFL’s Championship, League One, and League Two. These clubs represent the professional tiers of English football before the non-league system begins with the National League and its subdivisions.
Shared online by the account The 44 on X, the ranking divides clubs into six categories based on their atmosphere.
The ‘noisiest’ category includes five clubs—three from the Premier League: Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, and Newcastle United, joined by Championship sides Leeds United and Portsmouth.
In the next tier, ‘very loud,’ Premier League teams Nottingham Forest and Everton feature alongside Championship clubs Birmingham City, Coventry City, and Derby County.
The ‘loud’ section includes five more top-flight sides: Liverpool (Anfield), Arsenal (Emirates), Chelsea (Stamford Bridge), Leicester City, and Ipswich Town. Also ranked here are Burnley, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Bolton Wanderers, Wrexham, and Bradford City from lower divisions.
The ‘average’ category includes Manchester United’s Old Trafford, Brighton’s AMEX Stadium, and Southampton’s St. Mary’s, among others.
More controversially, the ‘quiet’ ranking features Premier League champions Manchester City, along with Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium, West Ham’s London Stadium, and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Finally, the ‘library’ category, indicating the quietest stadiums, includes Fulham’s Craven Cottage, as well as Championship sides Blackburn Rovers and Watford. League One and League Two clubs such as Burton Albion, MK Dons, Wigan Athletic, Northampton Town, Crawley Town, and Fleetwood Town also appea
