Reports suggest Barcelona is eager to sign an unexpected Arsenal star next summer.

According to CaughtOffside, Barcelona is interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey this summer. The Ghanaian is in the final months of his five-year contract at the Emirates, which is set to expire at the end of the season.

Partey joined Arsenal from Atlético Madrid in October 2022 for a reported €50 million and has impressed despite recurring fitness issues. Renowned for his ability to stabilize the midfield, he has been a dynamic defensive presence for the Gunners.

This season, he has played 37 matches, scoring three goals and providing three assists. In 24 Premier League games, he has recorded 64 tackles, 32 clearances, and won 118 out of 198 ground duels (via FootyStats). However, with no new contract agreed upon, Barcelona sees an opportunity to sign him on a free transfer.

His versatility, allowing him to play in various midfield roles and at right-back, could make him a valuable addition to Xavi’s squad. His defensive awareness and man-marking skills would also strengthen Barça’s midfield.

Despite Barcelona’s interest, Partey is reportedly in no rush to decide his future, with Juventus also keen on securing his signature.
