Arsenal urged to sign Liverpool standout who would be a ‘golden’ addition in a stunning summer transfer.
Darwin Nunez has struggled for form this season, but former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann believes the Uruguayan striker would be an ideal fit for Arsenal.
With Gabriel Jesus sidelined due to an ACL injury that could keep him out at the start of next season, Arsenal are facing an attacking crisis. Despite being linked with several strikers, Mikel Arteta failed to bring in reinforcements in January, with Aston Villa rejecting a bid for Ollie Watkins. RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko remains a likely summer arrival, but other options are being considered—including Nunez, whose inconsistent performances have sparked speculation about a Liverpool exit.
Nunez struggled in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Villa, where Watkins scored, but Hamann believes the former Benfica striker could bring a vital physical presence to Arsenal’s attack.
“The only real question mark I have about Arsenal’s squad is the centre-forward position. I think even Darwin Nunez would be gold for Arsenal,” Hamann told Prime Casino. “He bullies defenders, draws their attention, and his speed and physicality could change Arsenal’s game. His presence would also make life easier for players like Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Martin Odegaard by stretching defenses.”
Nunez has only managed six goals this season, including a dramatic brace against Brentford in January. He missed a crucial opportunity to win the game at Villa Park, firing over from close range.
Liverpool boss Arne Slot expressed his frustration after the draw, telling TNT Sports, “Not so happy, to be honest. We created far more chances than them, but also conceded from a set piece. We should have won, so I’m not happy with 2-2.”
