Arne Slot reacts to Liverpool fans’ “we’re going to win the league” chants after 2-0 victory over Man City.

Arne Slot has addressed claims that Liverpool have secured the Premier League title after their 2-0 victory over Man City on Sunday.

Liverpool dominated at the Etihad, securing their first league win at the stadium since the 2015/16 season. First-half goals from Mo Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai put Slot’s team in control, extending their lead at the top of the table to 11 points ahead of Arsenal.

As the match neared its conclusion, Liverpool fans chanted “we are going to win the league” towards Man City supporters, with Arsenal’s loss to West Ham making Liverpool’s title bid seem even more likely.

After the game, Slot was asked about the fans’ confidence and whether he shared their belief that the title was heading to Anfield.

“A week ago, I was told that only beating Wolves 2-1 wasn’t impressive, and then three days later, people were questioning if we were struggling after a draw at Villa Park, which I actually thought was a good result,” Slot told beIN Sports. “That’s not how I see things. I believed the draw at Villa was good, the win against Wolves was good, and this win [against Man City] is also good.”

The Liverpool manager emphasized that recent results have been hard-fought and stressed the importance of staying focused with 11 games still to play.

“We have 11 games left, and it’s too soon to talk like some people do. We know how much effort it takes to get results,” he added.

Slot also praised Salah’s performance, as the Egyptian broke six records during the match with a goal and an assist.

“The numbers speak for themselves,” he said. “He was a constant threat, which shows the quality of player he is. It’s not easy for an attacker to defend, defend, then receive the ball and produce something special.”
