Arsène Wenger praised Mohamed Salah as an outstanding player and stated that he should be considered for any major individual award this season.

Mohamed Salah is arguably in the best form of his career right now, and his performance against Manchester City was a perfect example of that.

Liverpool secured their first league win at the Etihad since 2015, and Arsène Wenger was full of praise for the Egyptian after the match.

“Man City had 67% possession, yet Liverpool won 2-0, and that’s down to players of a higher level like Salah,” Wenger said. “He scored and provided an assist. I read that his combined goals and assists—38 in total—have directly contributed to 31 of Liverpool’s points this season. You can’t ignore him for any major individual award.

“This guy is exceptional, and what I admire most about his career is how he improves every year, becoming more clinical. He covers less ground now, but his quality remains the same, showing he’s not just talented but also highly intelligent.

“I played against Salah when he created six chances and scored one. Now, he creates two chances and scores twice. He has found the right balance between his goal-scoring obsession and his ability to assist.

“There was a time when tensions existed between him and Sadio Mané because both wanted to score rather than pass. But Salah understands that true greatness comes from contributing to the team, and he has mastered that.”

With growing support for Salah in the Ballon d’Or race, his incredible season continues to strengthen his case for the prestigious award.

Despite being Liverpool’s standout performer, fans remain focused on team success. Wenger also noted how Salah has evolved from being more self-focused in attack to prioritizing what benefits the team as a whole. This shift has made Liverpool’s attack even more dangerous.
