Liverpool targeting two Premier League stars for crucial role, including a £50m Chelsea-linked player.

Liverpool are reportedly in the market for new centre-backs ahead of the summer transfer window, with three key names on their shortlist.

If the Reds do secure a defensive signing, it could significantly impact Chelsea, as Liverpool are not ruling out a move for Blues defender Levi Colwill. According to Rousing the Kop, the Merseyside club has previously shown interest in the young defender.

Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen is another target under consideration, with Fabrizio Romano previously linking him to Chelsea as well. Meanwhile, RTK reports that Sporting Lisbon’s Gonçalo Inácio is also on Liverpool’s radar.

Despite boasting a strong centre-back pairing in Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté, Liverpool may look to add a young talent to the squad. Van Dijk is approaching the final year of his contract, meaning the club could soon need a long-term replacement.

Even if the Dutchman remains at Anfield, signing a young defender like Colwill or Huijsen could provide valuable depth and a future starter. While Colwill has had an inconsistent season at Chelsea, he remains a highly regarded prospect who could thrive in Liverpool’s more stable setup.

Huijsen, who reportedly has a £50m release clause (TEAMtalk), might be a more realistic option for new manager Arne Slot than pursuing Colwill from a Premier League rival.
