Exclusive: Liverpool target 21-year-old defender for summer transfer wishlist

Liverpool are actively searching for defensive reinforcements in the transfer market as uncertainty looms over the future of club captain Virgil van Dijk.

The Dutch defender’s contract expires at the end of the season, and while discussions are ongoing, no agreement has been reached for an extension. Given his importance to the team’s silverware ambitions but also his age, the Reds are cautious about offering a long-term deal. While they hope to retain Van Dijk, they want to be prepared in case he departs.

According to Caught Offside, Arne Slot’s side has added 21-year-old Konstantinos Koulierakis to their summer transfer shortlist. The Greek center-back, who joined Wolfsburg from PAOK Saloniki last summer, has impressed this season and attracted interest from several top clubs, including Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, AC Milan, and Real Madrid.

Premier League clubs have been particularly keen on Koulierakis, and if a deal materializes, it could be one of the standout moves of the transfer window. Wolfsburg, though pleased with the defender’s progress, are open to offers and are expected to demand around €40m-€50m for his transfer.

German outlet Bild has described Koulierakis as “one of the most sought-after defensive talents in Europe,” highlighting his rising status in the game.

Meanwhile, Liverpool remain hopeful of securing a new long-term contract with one of their key players.
