Surprise club ‘prepared to submit £99m bid for Dominik Szoboszlai,’ creating a major dilemma for Arne Slot.
Liverpool may need to persuade Dominik Szoboszlai to remain at Anfield this summer, as a surprise club is set to launch a bid for the midfielder.
Arne Slot has made a remarkable impact since taking over from Jurgen Klopp, guiding Liverpool to their second consecutive Carabao Cup final, maintaining a 13-point lead at the top of the Premier League, and finishing first in their Champions League group. A key factor in Slot’s success has been his ability to develop existing players, but he could now face a battle to retain one of his star performers.
Szoboszlai has been in outstanding form, earning Man of the Match honors in Liverpool’s 2-0 victories over Manchester City and Newcastle United. However, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal are reportedly preparing a massive bid of up to €120m (£100m) to lure the Hungarian international away in the summer.
The report also claims that Al Hilal are not the only club interested, with multiple top European sides monitoring Szoboszlai’s performances. The 24-year-old initially struggled to secure a consistent place in Slot’s lineup but has now cemented his importance, starting the last nine Premier League games in a row.
Following Liverpool’s win over Newcastle, Slot praised Szoboszlai, saying: “[I’m] very pleased for him because he’s the type of player that always looks for a teammate in a better position. He deserves the credit he’s getting now. He always had my appreciation, but now he’s receiving recognition from those who value not just work rate but also goals and assists.”
