Liverpool informed of the price to sign Europa League champion who has previously triumphed at Anfield.
Liverpool Discover Asking Price for Midfield Target Ederson
Liverpool have learned the cost of signing Atalanta midfielder Ederson, a player who has been on FSG’s radar for several months.
Rumors of the Reds’ interest in the 25-year-old first emerged in January last year, with scouts from Merseyside monitoring him during Atalanta’s Champions League games earlier this season. Notably, Ederson was part of the team that defeated Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield last April before going on to win the Europa League.
Liverpool and Man United Make Enquiries
According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool remain keen on the Brazilian, who is also a target for Manchester United. Both clubs have recently sought information on his availability as they look to strengthen their midfield options.
Atalanta have now set their asking price at a minimum of €60m (£50.3m), a significant 50% increase from the valuation reported 14 months ago.
Is Ederson Worth the £50m Price Tag?
Liverpool’s continued interest suggests their recruitment team sees him as a strong addition to Arne Slot’s squad. However, when analyzing his performance metrics via FBref, he ranks in the 82nd percentile for progressive passes per 90 minutes (6.59), but doesn’t stand out significantly in other key areas compared to current midfielders like Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, and Dominik Szoboszlai.
With Liverpool needing reinforcements in defense and attack—especially with uncertainty around Mohamed Salah’s future—spending £50m on Ederson might not be the club’s top priority this summer.
That said, given Liverpool’s strong track record in recruitment, if Slot believes Ederson would be an ideal fit, his judgment shouldn’t be questioned.
