Jurgen Klopp had accepted and signed the Manchester United contract presented to him at Old Trafford.
IShowSpeed and Jurgen Klopp are two figures you wouldn’t typically associate with each other.
However, a bizarre incident once left the legendary Liverpool manager visibly frustrated due to the YouTube star’s antics. In Klopp’s final season in charge, Liverpool suffered a dramatic 4-3 FA Cup quarter-final defeat to Manchester United, with young winger Amad scoring the winner in stoppage time of extra time.
As Klopp sat down for his post-match press conference at Old Trafford, he noticed a document in front of him. Holding it up in confusion, he realized it was a signed Manchester United contract. However, the reality was far from what it seemed.
The contract was a prank, actually signed by popular YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed—real name Darren Watkins Jr. A devoted Cristiano Ronaldo fan, Speed had been given special access to Old Trafford, including a dressing room tour, his own personalized jersey, and an invitation to the press room. There, he was allowed to sign a fake contract as if he had secured his dream move.
It’s unclear whether the document was intentionally left behind to provoke Klopp, especially with his own contract set to expire that summer. Regardless, the German manager appeared baffled by the stunt.
Speed, who had previously played in a charity match alongside the Sidemen at the London Stadium in September 2023, recently returned to the UK for the 2025 edition of the event. Set to take place at a sold-out Wembley Stadium this Saturday, his participation was initially in doubt after a disappointing, goalless performance at the Match for Hope 2025 in Qatar.
During CBS Sports’ Champions League coverage, where Speed appeared alongside Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher, and Micah Richards, the Arsenal legend surprised him by revealing that he had been chosen as the captain of the YouTube Allstars. Henry presented him with a captain’s armband and challenged him: “Are you gonna stop, or are you gonna play now that you’re the captain?”
Speed, with his signature mischievous grin, quickly accepted: “Wait, the captain of the YouTube Allstars? Come on, put me on, man. I’m in, man, come on!”
With his unpredictable nature, it remains to be seen where Speed will show up next before the big game. Known for his wild stunts, he has a history of making surprise appearances in unexpected places—including the Gloucestershire cheese rolling contest in 2024.
