Barcelona’s efforts to sign Alexander Isak have taken a promising turn, with reports from Spain suggesting that the Newcastle United striker is actively pushing for a move to Camp Nou this summer.

The 25-year-old’s future at St James’ Park remains uncertain, especially if Newcastle fail to qualify for the Champions League next season. According to El Nacional, Isak has already rejected offers from both Arsenal and Liverpool as he prioritizes a dream transfer to Barcelona, a club highly interested in securing his services.

However, completing the deal won’t be straightforward. Newcastle have reportedly set a hefty €180 million asking price for the Swedish international, a figure that could pose a significant challenge for Barcelona given their well-known financial difficulties.

Despite these obstacles, Barcelona president Joan Laporta is reportedly “willing to do everything possible” to bring Isak to the club, viewing him as the ideal long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski.

Isak has been in sensational form this season, scoring 22 goals and registering five assists in 31 appearances. Liverpool are also monitoring the situation, with reports suggesting they see Isak as a potential replacement for Darwin Núñez. Following Isak’s impressive performance against Manchester United in December, Jamie Carragher praised him on Sky Sports, saying:

When asked about reports suggesting his representatives were frustrated with Newcastle over stalled contract talks, he dismissed the claims, saying:
