“I’ve heard they’ve made their decision”: Liverpool’s plan for their £140k-a-week star unveiled.

Liverpool are reportedly open to selling Darwin Núñez at the end of the season if they receive a lucrative offer.

According to former Premier League scout Mick Brown, who spoke to Football Insider, new manager Arne Slot and his coaching staff are unimpressed with the Uruguayan striker’s performances and are prepared to part ways with him this summer.

“The manager and his staff haven’t been impressed, which is why he’s faced public criticism,” Brown stated.

“I’ve heard they’ve decided they need a more clinical forward to lead the line, and that means Núñez will be on his way out. If they can secure a good fee for him, it’ll help fund his replacement.”

At 25, Núñez has struggled with his finishing and has been inconsistent in front of goal. While his overall contributions have been solid, Liverpool require a prolific striker who can score regularly. The club has been heavily reliant on Mohamed Salah for goals, and with the Egyptian yet to sign a contract extension ahead of his impending free agency, securing a reliable goal-scorer has become a priority.

Núñez does not appear to be the right candidate to step into Salah’s shoes, and Liverpool will likely seek an upgrade. A top-class striker, along with a dynamic wide attacker, could significantly enhance their attacking options.

The £140k-a-week forward has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia in recent months, and Newcastle United has also emerged as a potential destination. A transfer could offer him a much-needed fresh start and the opportunity for regular playing time.
