Liverpool are reportedly looking to strengthen their attacking lineup this summer, with Inter Milan’s Marcus Thuram emerging as a key target.

The French forward has impressed in Serie A since his free transfer to the San Siro, and according to TBRFootball, Liverpool scouts were present when he scored against Feyenoord in the Champions League.

Thuram has a £70 million release clause, making a potential move costly, and Liverpool could face competition from Arsenal for the 27-year-old.

Despite an impressive season under Arne Slot—reaching the Carabao Cup final, controlling their Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain, and suffering just one Premier League defeat—Liverpool still lack a reliable forward option.

Slot has rotated between Darwin Núñez, Diogo Jota, and Luis Díaz, but none have fully convinced. While Núñez has delivered standout performances, such as against PSG and Southampton, consistency remains a concern.

Newcastle’s Alexander Isak has been linked with Liverpool, but Thuram, who has netted 15 goals this season and is praised for his intelligent movement and link-up play, could be a more affordable alternative.

Football analyst Ben Mattinson has highlighted Thuram’s strengths, describing him as “so intelligent” with excellent hold-up and link-up play.

Liverpool’s latest victory over Southampton saw Núñez on the scoresheet in a 3-1 win. However, manager Ivan Juric was critical of the striker, accusing him of going down too easily for a crucial penalty that shifted the match in Liverpool’s favor.

Juric expressed his frustration, stating, “They reacted really well. We had good moments in the first half. I think the penalty was not a penalty, and it changed the match. Normally in England, they don’t like these kinds of things. It wasn’t correct—he [Núñez] goes down too easily.”
