Top European club reaches out to sign Liverpool’s transfer target, dealing a major setback to Arne Slot.

Liverpool have made signing a left-back a top priority for the summer transfer window.

The Reds have struggled in that position this season, with Andy Robertson experiencing a dip in form and Kostas Tsimikas failing to make a significant impact. While Liverpool boast a world-class defense featuring Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konaté, and Virgil van Dijk, the left-back position remains a major concern.

To address this, Liverpool have identified Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez as their primary target. However, securing the Hungarian defender may not be straightforward, as Juventus have now joined the race for his signature, according to Sky Sports France.

Bournemouth are expected to demand around €45 million for Kerkez, and Juventus have made him a key target in case Andrea Cambiaso leaves in the summer. Talks have already begun between the player’s representatives and Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli, with the Italian club now ahead of Liverpool in the race.

Juventus also have a strong relationship with Kerkez’s agent, Fali Ramadani, which could further boost their chances. Meanwhile, Liverpool are known for being selective in transfer battles and may only proceed if they believe the player is keen on a move to Anfield.

The Reds are wary of another transfer saga like Romeo Lavia’s, where the midfielder ultimately chose Chelsea despite Liverpool’s strong interest. Financially, both Liverpool and Juventus can afford Kerkez, meaning the final decision could rest with the player.

Given Liverpool’s strong performances in both the Premier League and European competitions, Kerkez may have a better shot at winning trophies at Anfield than in Turin.
