Who Van Dijk was seen talking to inside Anfield after the Champions League exit is concerning.

Virgil van Dijk may have given Liverpool fans a scare after being seen in conversation with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

The two were spotted speaking after Liverpool’s heartbreaking Champions League round of 16 exit to PSG, which saw the French side progress following missed penalties from Curtis Jones and Darwin Nunez.

It was a tough result for Arne Slot’s team, but they must quickly shift focus to Sunday’s Carabao Cup final—an opportunity for silverware.

Was PSG attempting to lure Van Dijk?
As if Trent Alexander-Arnold’s injury wasn’t bad enough, there’s now speculation that Liverpool’s captain could be the subject of interest from PSG.

To be clear, there’s no definitive proof that Van Dijk’s discussion with Al-Khelaifi—and PSG advisor Luis Campos—was about a potential transfer.

However, footage shared by @CasseJosue on X (formerly Twitter), combined with Van Dijk’s contract expiring this summer, has understandably raised concerns. Given his status as one of the world’s top defenders, it’s no surprise that a club like PSG, with long-term Champions League ambitions, would consider signing him on a free transfer.

Are PSG pursuing Van Dijk?
Christian Falk has dismissed claims that Bayern Munich are interested in signing the Dutch defender as a free agent. However, PSG may have a different stance, though no solid reports have confirmed their intent to bring him to Paris.

Football 365 has suggested that Barcelona—known for targeting free agents—could be interested in signing the 33-year-old if Liverpool decide against a renewal.

That said, keeping Van Dijk at Anfield seems to be in Liverpool’s best interest.

Perhaps his conversation with Al-Khelaifi was nothing significant—but it’s certainly enough to get fans talking.
