Newcastle United are planning a summer swoop on Liverpool, targeting two key players with a potential transfer spend exceeding €110 million, according to reports. However, despite previous links, Darwin Nunez is not part of their plans.

The Uruguayan striker has struggled with inconsistency at Anfield this season, managing just seven goals across all competitions. With new manager Arne Slot reportedly not fully convinced by the 25-year-old, Liverpool could be open to offers for him.

However, Newcastle have shifted their focus elsewhere. According to Give Me Sport, the Magpies are now pursuing Liverpool duo Diogo Jota and Harvey Elliott. Eddie Howe is a strong admirer of both players and sees them as key additions to his squad rebuild.

There had been speculation about a potential swap deal involving Alexander Isak, with Liverpool keen on the Swedish striker as a possible replacement if Mohamed Salah departs. However, Newcastle have no intention of selling Isak, meaning they will have to negotiate a separate deal for Jota and Elliott.

Liverpool’s willingness to sell could boost Newcastle’s chances, as both Jota and Elliott are reportedly on a five-man list of potential summer departures, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg. Others on the list include goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, midfielder Wataru Endo, and Juventus loanee Federico Chiesa.

Interestingly, Nunez was not named among the expected exits, though his future remains uncertain as Liverpool reshape their attack. What is clear, however, is that Newcastle will not be making a move for him.
