Pep Guardiola makes bold decision on Jack Grealish after Manchester City star is linked with surprise move to Premier League rivals.

Pep Guardiola has reportedly taken action after Jack Grealish was linked with a surprising move away from Manchester City.

Since his high-profile transfer in 2021, Grealish has struggled to cement a regular spot in Guardiola’s starting lineup. The 29-year-old has managed just 16 goals in 152 appearances for the club.

This season, his playing time has been limited, falling behind Savinho, Jeremy Doku, Omar Marmoush, and Phil Foden in the pecking order. As the summer transfer window approaches, speculation has grown about a possible departure from City.

According to Give Me Sport, Tottenham Hotspur have expressed interest in signing Grealish. The report states: “Jack Grealish’s valuation and ongoing role at Man City are being assessed, and the club anticipates suitors this summer, with Tottenham among the most interested parties. Spurs are exploring a potential move, and discussions have been intriguing.”

Despite his struggles, Grealish was reportedly given a new tactical role during City’s FA Cup victory over Bournemouth on Sunday. He came on in the 69th minute, with City leading 2-1 thanks to goals from Erling Haaland and Marmoush.

As The Sun reported, Guardiola instructed Grealish “not to worry about the ball” before bringing him on, suggesting his role was to drag Bournemouth’s midfield out of position.

Journalist Dean Scoggins explained: “Guardiola told him, ‘Make this run and don’t worry about the ball.’ It sounds strange for a player like Grealish, but the idea was to create space for Nico O’Reilly. It was a tactical masterclass from Pep.”

After the win, Grealish took to social media, posting: “Was nice to finally be back out there. Away support was incredible… Wembley next.”
