Thierry Henry walked off the CBS Sports set during a pre-match interview ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League quarter-final clash with Real Madrid.

The former Gunners star was at the Emirates Stadium for the highly anticipated first leg against the 15-time champions, joining CBS Sports’ coverage alongside former teammate Robert Pires.

During the segment, Henry and Pires fondly recalled their undefeated Premier League season under Arsène Wenger. However, things took a turn when presenter Anita Jones brought up their infamous failed penalty routine against Manchester City in 2005.

Even before the question was finished, Henry rolled his eyes and quipped, “Wait, I’m going to leave you alone because he [Pires] messed it up,” before walking off set. The moment left fellow pundits Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards stunned.

Pires took responsibility for the botched penalty, admitting it was his mistake and even suggesting the referee didn’t know the rules. After a short clip of the incident aired, Henry returned to clarify that the idea was his, but he made sure to add, “I didn’t make the mistake.”

The penalty was an attempted nod to a famous routine by Johan Cruyff and Jesper Olsen at Ajax, later replicated successfully by Messi and Suarez for Barcelona.

Despite the light-hearted blame, Henry wrapped things up by praising Pires: “Joking aside, this man was a special player. Playing with him at Arsenal and for France was incredible. In training, if you were on Robert Pires’ team, you never lost. He could still play now—if only the pitch was smaller.”
