“Deal confirmed” – Fabrizio Romano teases another thrilling Liverpool signing “coming very soon”

A new contract for Virgil van Dijk is reportedly agreed upon, following Mohamed Salah’s recently announced extension with Liverpool.

Salah’s renewal was confirmed this morning, and it appears Reds fans could be treated to more good news soon. Like Salah, Van Dijk had been nearing the end of his current deal, but Fabrizio Romano reports that the Dutch defender has now agreed terms to remain at Anfield.

While Van Dijk’s extension hasn’t been made official yet, Romano assures it’s only a matter of time before it’s announced, with everything essentially finalized.

As a key figure in Arne Slot’s plans, Van Dijk’s decision to stay would be a major boost—especially as Trent Alexander-Arnold appears set to leave. With Salah and Van Dijk staying, that’s two out of three major contract concerns addressed.

Alexander-Arnold, whose deal also expires this summer, seems increasingly likely to join Real Madrid, according to BBC Sport and others. Losing a homegrown talent of his caliber would sting for fans, but retaining both Salah and Van Dijk is still a significant win.

Replacing Alexander-Arnold won’t be easy, and Salah’s value to the team is immense. Meanwhile, Van Dijk remains not only Liverpool’s captain but also a seasoned leader, making his retention all the more vital.
