David Ornstein reveals which player Liverpool must offload to secure deal for 21-year-old target

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Liverpool will need to part ways with either Andy Robertson or Kostas Tsimikas if they want to sign Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth. The Reds are aiming to strengthen the left-back position this summer, with Robertson struggling for form and new manager Arne Slot unconvinced by the current options.

Despite the presence of Tsimikas, Slot is eager to bolster the position, especially after a quiet transfer window last summer when the club’s only signing was Federico Chiesa. With more activity expected this time around, Liverpool are targeting Kerkez and also exploring replacements for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is reportedly heading to Real Madrid.

Speaking to NBC Sports, Ornstein stated:

> “Milos Kerkez, for example, at Bournemouth, [is a transfer target], but that would require one of Robertson or Tsimikas to depart.”

Kerkez, 21, has been a standout for Bournemouth, impressing both defensively and offensively—a style that fits Slot’s tactical approach. Given his limited role at the club, Tsimikas seems the more likely candidate to leave, while Robertson’s experience could help ease Kerkez into the squad.

Liverpool’s need to revamp the left-back spot is clear, especially with Robertson seemingly past his prime.
