Arne Slot reveals whether Joe Gomez will feature again for Liverpool this season

Liverpool are currently enjoying a mostly healthy squad, but Joe Gomez remains the key injury concern. Arne Slot provided an update ahead of the match against Tottenham, saying:

“If his recovery progresses well, he might be available for the final one or two games of the season. He’s not yet back in team training, but he’s getting closer. However, he’s been out for quite some time, and returning to full match fitness takes a while — just like we saw with Conor Bradley.”

Slot added that if all goes to plan, Gomez could feature in the last few matches.

It would be unfortunate if Liverpool’s longest-serving player isn’t able to join in the season’s closing moments — especially as the team edges closer to the league title. While his injury troubles have persisted throughout his career, Gomez’s contributions to the club and his collection of silverware shouldn’t be overlooked.

The 27-year-old has been sidelined since picking up an injury in the FA Cup defeat to Plymouth in early February. Though he’s recently been seen at the AXA Training Centre, he hasn’t returned to outdoor training yet, which suggests a comeback isn’t imminent.

His future at the club remains uncertain, but Slot has praised his value when fit. Let’s hope Gomez makes it back in time — and maybe even nets his first goal for the club before the season ends.
