Still, he didn’t have to make his involvement so public — and with his future at Liverpool still uncertain, it raises the question: can we read anything into it?

On its own, it’s probably not enough — unless you’re feeling particularly optimistic (or deluded, depending on your view).

Sure, Real Madrid — with their record 15 Champions League titles — remain a dominant force. But can anyone really argue that this Liverpool team isn’t also equipped to chase major trophies?

Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah have answered that question by signing new deals, committing what could be the best remaining years of their careers to Liverpool under Arne Slot.
