Arsenal fans believe it’s time to have a ‘tough discussion’ about one player following his display in the loss to PSG.

Arsenal fans all echo the same sentiment about one player after 1-0 Champions League semi-final loss to PSG

Arsenal supporters were united in their criticism of a specific player following the team’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Tuesday, April 29.

The Gunners hosted the French giants at the Emirates but suffered a nightmare start when Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring just three minutes in, silencing the home crowd. Despite Fabian Ruiz hitting the post, the first half was largely uneventful by PSG’s usual attacking standards.

Shortly after the restart, Arsenal thought they had equalised when Mikel Merino headed past Gianluigi Donnarumma, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

Throughout the game, fans took to social media to voice their frustration with Martin Ødegaard, who many felt had an underwhelming performance.

One fan wrote: “I’m sorry but Ødegaard is just frustrating. He looks busy, but what does he actually contribute? For all his ability, he needs to deliver more in games like this.”

Another added: “Just standing around—really poor again. A player of his quality should be creating more.”

Others jumped to the midfielder’s defence, pointing out his pressing and leadership off the ball, while some suggested his form has dipped since an early-season injury, possibly due to lingering physical limitations.

One sarcastic fan remarked: “He’d be great on a construction site—looks busy, but doesn’t get much done.”

On commentary for Prime Video, Alan Shearer also expressed disappointment in the Norwegian’s display, saying: “I expect more from him.”

Ødegaard was eventually substituted for Ethan Nwaneri. The return leg is set for May 7 at the Parc des Princes.
