Talks Begin: Serie A Giants Open Discussions Over Late Summer Move for Liverpool Star

With just days remaining in the summer transfer window, one Liverpool player continues to draw attention from clubs abroad.

Kostas Tsimikas is reportedly on the verge of leaving Anfield, with The Athletic recently stating that the 29-year-old is “expected to depart” before the transfer deadline next Monday. The Greek international is believed to favour a move to a club competing in Europe rather than joining a Premier League rival.

Marseille are said to be pursuing the left-back, although they may now face competition from Italy.

Roma Open Talks for Tsimikas Loan Deal
According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, AS Roma have entered discussions with Liverpool over a possible loan move for Tsimikas. The Italian side are seeking depth in the left-back position to support Angelino, formerly of Manchester City.

Negotiations between the two clubs are underway, and more clarity on whether a deal can be struck is expected within a few days. However, the report adds that securing the deal won’t be straightforward for Roma.

Where Could Tsimikas End Up?
Tsimikas has been linked with a Liverpool exit ever since the club signed Milos Kerkez in June. The new arrival has pushed the Greek defender down to third-choice left-back, behind both Kerkez and Andy Robertson.

Tsimikas was left out of Arne Slot’s squads for recent matches against Crystal Palace and Bournemouth, further suggesting he’s not in the manager’s plans for this season.

While Roma can only offer Europa League football compared to Marseille’s Champions League status, the idea of a loan might be complicated by the fact that Tsimikas will be entering the final year of his Liverpool contract next summer.

At this stage, Marseille seem to be in the strongest position to sign him, but Roma are ready to step in if that move falls through.
