The ongoing uncertainty surrounding the Swedish striker is approaching a conclusion. So far, Liverpool have made only a single offer—£110 million at the beginning of August—which Newcastle swiftly rejected.

Reliable sources indicate that Newcastle will not consider selling Isak, regardless of the size of Liverpool’s next bid, unless they first secure a replacement attacker before the window shuts next Monday.

Newcastle Preparing for Another Bid from Liverpool

According to The i Paper, Newcastle are expecting a second offer from Liverpool following tonight’s match between the two sides at St James’ Park. While initial reports suggested the Reds might back off after Newcastle’s firm rejection, fresh indications suggest otherwise.

Northern football correspondent Mark Douglas notes that any renewed attempt by Liverpool is unlikely to succeed, simply because there’s little time left for Newcastle to find a suitable replacement.

However, the report also points to Newcastle’s need to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), meaning a significant sale may be necessary soon—even if it doesn’t happen this summer. If Isak remains, another key player may be sold in the near future.

Liverpool Still Considering a Final Push for Isak

Unlike their persistent pursuit of Florian Wirtz earlier this year, Liverpool have taken a more measured approach with Isak. Following Newcastle’s firm rejection, the club’s owners (FSG) appear to be holding off unless they can present an offer too good to refuse.

Given Newcastle’s stance—refusing to sell unless they first buy—it would take a major shift in circumstances for Liverpool to convince them to part with their top scorer from the 2024/25 season.

Still, with a week left in the window, there’s time for Liverpool to try one last approach—especially as Isak is believed to be keen on the move and won’t feature in tonight’s game, which may comfort LFC fans after his brace against them last season.
