Man City aiming to crash Liverpool’s plans late in the transfer window

Liverpool have shown strong interest in Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, with the player reportedly eager to make the move to Anfield. The England international has been identified as a top defensive target for the Reds this summer, and a late push for his signature was expected before the transfer window closes.

However, the landscape may be shifting, as Daily Star reports that Manchester City have now joined the race to sign the centre-back.

Guehi, who is in the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park, is widely expected to leave Palace in order to prevent the club from losing him on a free transfer next summer. With Crystal Palace open to selling, interest in the 24-year-old is heating up.

Liverpool, under new manager Arne Slot, were considered the frontrunners to secure Guehi’s services, but the entry of Pep Guardiola’s Man City could complicate the deal. City’s potential need for a new defender has been heightened by reported interest in Manuel Akanji from Galatasaray and Nathan Ake from Everton.

With both Premier League giants now eyeing Guehi, the final days of the transfer window are shaping up to deliver a potential showdown, not just on the pitch but in the market as well, for one of England’s most reliable centre-backs.
