Stefan Bajcetic to Stay at Liverpool for 2025/26 Season

Stefan Bajcetic is set to remain at Liverpool for the upcoming season, rather than follow teammates Tyler Morton and James McConnell out on loan.

Despite a productive loan spell at Las Palmas in 2024/25 — where he made 14 appearances — the young Spaniard will continue his development at Anfield.

According to The Times journalist Paul Joyce, Liverpool’s plan is to keep Bajcetic on Merseyside, where he’ll train under new head coach Arne Slot and the club’s coaching staff. His presence also helps fulfill the homegrown player quota for the upcoming Champions League campaign.

With Morton heading to Lyon and McConnell poised to join Ajax on loan, Liverpool see Bajcetic as a key squad option. The 20-year-old midfielder, who has made 22 senior appearances and scored once (against Aston Villa in 2022), will provide valuable cover in the holding midfield role.

Although Wataru Endo is available to back up Ryan Gravenberch in the No. 6 position — and players like Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai can step in if needed — Bajcetic offers a more natural fit in that role.

The main challenge for the former Celta Vigo youth product will be breaking into the first team, especially after missing most of pre-season due to surgery on an injury sustained at the end of last season.
