A pundit on MUTV has praised two Manchester United players, describing them as “tough opponents” and noting that one of them brings “tremendous intensity” to the game.

Manchester United are showing signs of improvement, with Ruud van Nistelrooy bringing stability to the team, especially in the midfield. Under Erik ten Hag, the midfield often struggled, frequently getting overrun, leaving the defense exposed to a barrage of shots while unsuccessfully attempting to play on the counter.

Van Nistelrooy, however, has solidified the midfield by consistently pairing Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte across all four games, a combination ten Hag only used once in United’s 7-0 win over Barnsley before moving away from it. Since then, Ugarte has begun to settle in, with his performances growing stronger, as noted by former United academy player Danny Webber on MUTV.

Webber praised Ugarte’s progress, pointing out that while he initially appeared off the pace due to limited pre-season involvement with PSG, he has now found his rhythm in the Premier League. Ugarte’s intense tackling and tenacity, as well as his composure on the ball, have started to shine through.

Webber also highlighted the synergy developing between Ugarte and Casemiro, describing them as a formidable duo in front of the defense. According to him, “Having them sit in front of the back four makes United far tougher to play against, which is exactly what’s needed.”

Unlike ten Hag’s side, which opponents found easy to break down, Van Nistelrooy’s United are proving far more resilient. With Ruben Amorim set to take charge, it’s likely he’ll continue to rely on Ugarte and Casemiro, who have helped United achieve consecutive clean sheets and laid a solid foundation for the team’s success.
