Ben Chilwell is reportedly a loan target for major European clubs after being sidelined at Chelsea under Enzo Maresca’s management.

Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell has reportedly attracted interest from a top European club as he seeks regular game time away from Stamford Bridge. The 27-year-old has struggled for opportunities under Enzo Maresca, playing just 45 minutes this season in a 5-0 Carabao Cup victory over Barrow. Chilwell has been excluded from every Premier League squad and was placed in Chelsea’s “bomb squad” over the summer after being deemed surplus to requirements, though he failed to secure a move.

Juventus are said to be considering a January loan deal for the left-back, according to Tuttosport. The Italian side, dealing with injuries to defenders Juan Cabal and Gleison Bremer, could offer Chilwell a fresh start, with plans to cover part of his wages. However, Juventus face financial constraints after significant summer spending on Douglas Luiz and Teun Koopmeiners.

Napoli are also reportedly monitoring Chilwell, while Premier League clubs remain interested. Despite these options, the England international may favor a move abroad to revive his career, especially given the success of players like Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour in Serie A.

Chilwell, who joined Chelsea four years ago and won the Champions League in his first season, has seen his career stagnate due to injuries and inconsistent form. He was left out of England’s Euro 2024 squad and hasn’t represented the national team since March. A move to Juventus would not only provide the chance to play in Serie A but also to return to the Champions League, a competition he hasn’t featured in for over 18 months.
