“Carlo Ancelotti confirms that the Real Madrid youngster will remain with the first-team, saying, ‘He’s crucial for us right now.'”
Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that defender Raúl Asencio will take on an “important” role for the team in the coming weeks and months. This announcement follows an impressive debut performance by the 21-year-old, who shone after being introduced against Osasuna in a La Liga matchup in Madrid, which ended in a 4-0 victory for Real.
Asencio stepped in unexpectedly after Éder Militão was forced off with a serious knee injury. The Castilla graduate made an impact on both defense and offense, most notably during the first half when he carved through Osasuna’s defense with a precise assist for Jude Bellingham.
After the game, Ancelotti praised Asencio’s performance and confirmed his elevation to the first-team, particularly as Los Merengues face an injury crisis in central defense. He noted Asencio’s contributions in Castilla, adding, “Raúl Asencio is a very important player for us now…he will stay with us moving forward.”
