Chelsea boasts an enviable roster in their dressing room, but they’re now being linked with a potential new midfielder.
Looking at Chelsea’s current squad, they’re well-equipped across most positions. Manager Enzo Maresca’s ability to rotate lineups between Premier League and cup games this season highlights their depth.
However, Chelsea’s owners have shown a strong ambition since taking charge, leading fans to expect plenty of transfer activity.

Chelsea interested in Torino’s Samuele Ricci According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea is among the prominent clubs tracking Torino’s 23-year-old midfielder Samuele Ricci, who’s also drawing attention from Real Madrid, Manchester City, and particularly Inter Milan.
The report suggests Torino could demand around €40m (£33m) for Ricci. With three caps for Italy, Ricci has become a key figure for Torino. It remains to be seen if he’ll soon take the leap to a top-tier club.
Though his market value may be reasonable, Chelsea might not necessarily need another central midfielder. They still have 20-year-old Andrey Santos, who has been excelling on loan at Strasbourg and continues to impress Chelsea’s management.
Samuele Ricci looks up to Rodri For those unfamiliar with Ricci, he’s a deep-lying midfielder known for his defensive skills and intelligence in possession. Unsurprisingly, he looks up to Manchester City’s Rodri, who won the 2024 Ballon d’Or.
In an interview with TuttoMercatoWeb two months ago, Ricci shared: “I look at players in my role, particularly Rodri. He’s currently the best, and I try to take inspiration from players like him.”
Unless Chelsea intends to offload some midfielders, they may hold back on further additions in this area.
