Chelsea’s central defender wasn’t chosen for the England squad, sparking interest from Nigeria.

Lee Carsley has named his final squad as England’s caretaker coach for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Greece and the Republic of Ireland, according to allnigeriasoccer.com.

Starting next January, German coach Thomas Tuchel will take over as England’s manager, having signed an 18-month contract.

Chelsea’s London-born center-back, Tosin Adarabioyo, remains an option for Nigeria as he was not included in the Three Lions squad. The Nigeria Football Federation has shown interest in Tosin, with former coach Jose Peseiro previously opening talks with the dual-nationality player before the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Since his transfer to Chelsea in the summer, Tosin’s international future has been the subject of much speculation. However, he currently has no decision to make, as neither Nigeria nor England has called him up yet.

While Tosin hasn’t secured a starting spot at Chelsea, he has made a positive impression whenever manager Enzo Maresca has fielded him.

In his latest squad, Lee Carsley has selected three players of Nigerian descent—Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke, and Dominic Solanke—all of whom are committed to England. Former Nigeria targets Eberechi Eze, Fikayo Tomori, and Tammy Abraham were also absent from the 26-man squad announced on Thursday.
