Despite their impressive form, with Liverpool taking 16 points from their last six games—more than any other team during this period—Gakpo stressed that the team remains grounded. He noted that Slot treats every match as a new challenge, demanding full effort in each game, regardless of their position in the standings. “We do not look at the rankings, but at things that we have to do better,” Gakpo explained.

Statistically, they’ve outperformed City in expected goals, meaning they arguably deserve to be further ahead in the title race. Nonetheless, Gakpo’s comments reflect a disciplined mindset, ensuring that the team stays focused on the challenges ahead, with their crucial match against City in December on the horizon.
