“I Have Been Proven Wrong” – Jamie Carragher Makes Frank Admission About Chelsea
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has expressed surprise at how effectively the Italian manager has handled Chelsea’s first-team squad both on and off the pitch.
“The manager has done an outstanding job, and I have to admit I was wrong about Chelsea this season—I didn’t see this coming,” Carragher admitted. “I expected constant rotation of players and issues with egos, especially with talk earlier in the season about players being left out. But now, when you watch Chelsea, you can predict the lineup. The manager has managed the squad dynamics brilliantly, and fair play to him for that.”
Maresca has enjoyed a strong start at Chelsea, silencing initial skepticism from fans. After 11 games, the Blues sit 3rd in the Premier League table, with Maresca averaging 1.89 points per game—outperforming four of Chelsea’s last five permanent managers. Only Thomas Tuchel (2.08) achieved a higher average.
With the squad’s average age at just 24—the youngest in the league—and promising talents like Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez set to join next summer, Chelsea supporters have plenty to look forward to as the club builds for the future.
