Karim Benzema has disclosed what he believes to be Kylian Mbappe’s challenges at Real Madrid.

Former captain Karim Benzema has weighed in on the situation, suggesting that a potential issue with team selection by coach Carlo Ancelotti is at play.Despite joining fellow talents Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior after their successful La Liga and Champions League-winning campaign, Mbappe’s start to the 2024/25 season has not been as fruitful.Benzema, who left Real Madrid for Al Ittihad in 2023, believes he understands the reason behind Mbappe’s underwhelming debut in Spain. He stated on El Chiringuito TV, “The issue is that Mbappe is not a center forward. Whenever he plays as a ‘9’ for France, it doesn’t work; it’s not his natural position. The problem lies with Vinicius, who excels on the left. You can’t shift him to the right or center forward, so it’ll be interesting to see how Ancelotti manages this.”He emphasized that Mbappe must adapt to playing as a ‘9’, noting the significant pressure at Real Madrid compared to PSG. Benzema advised him not to lose hope, acknowledging the heightened expectations that come with being at Madrid.”Every game presents a new challenge, and scoring is essential; they brought him in for that, and he has the ability to deliver,” Benzema said.So far, Mbappe has scored eight goals in 14 matches for Madrid, which is a considerable drop from the 44 goals he netted in 48 games with PSG last season.
