Liverpool is reportedly gearing up to submit a lower-than-expected offer for Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni, hoping to reach an agreement for the French midfielder, who has long been on their radar.

The Reds are said to be reigniting their interest in Tchouameni as manager Arne Slot looks for a reliable defensive midfielder to anchor his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation. Slot previously targeted Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi last summer, but the deal didn’t materialize.

Ryan Gravenberch has excelled in this role and is widely regarded as one of Liverpool’s standout players this season, but speculation remains around securing a long-term solution. Signing Tchouameni would allow Gravenberch to take on a more advanced position. According to Fichajes, Liverpool is now preparing a bid for Tchouameni, who was previously linked to Anfield before his move to Madrid in 2022.

While Tchouameni has occasionally filled in at center-back due to Madrid’s injuries, his preference is to play in central midfield. Liverpool previously pursued him in 2022 as a potential successor to Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson, but Tchouameni opted for Madrid.

Now, he may consider a switch to Anfield, with Liverpool reportedly preparing an initial bid of $64 million—half of Real Madrid’s $128 million valuation. The offer is intended as a starting point for negotiations, as Madrid is open to selling.
