Liverpool player returns early from loan spell.

Liverpool FC has loaned out several players for the 2024/25 season, aiming to provide them with valuable first-team opportunities.

Ben Doak has been a standout at Middlesbrough, contributing three goals and two assists in just 12 appearances. Similarly, Luca Stephenson has excelled at Dundee United, featuring prominently in 12 matches.

However, not all players have had smooth experiences. Stefan Bajcetic’s time at RB Salzburg has been challenging, with no goals or assists in 11 appearances. His performance in a 5-0 defeat to Sturm Graz drew criticism, and he faced further scrutiny after being fined for lateness before a Champions League game.

Owen Beck, on loan at Blackburn Rovers in the Championship, has shown defensive solidity in seven appearances despite not registering any goals or assists. His versatility has been an asset to Blackburn’s defense, though he was involved in a controversial incident that drew FA attention.

One player, however, has had to return to Liverpool due to injury.

Calum Scanlon, a 19-year-old left-back, has returned to the AXA Training Centre after suffering a stress fracture in his back during Millwall’s match against QPR in September. According to Liverpool academy reporter Lewis Bower, Scanlon’s rehabilitation is progressing well, and there is hope he could rejoin Millwall later this season.

Scanlon, who joined Liverpool from Birmingham City in 2021, has been a consistent presence in the club’s youth teams. He made his senior debut last season in the Europa League against Toulouse and also featured in pre-season matches, including one against Las Palmas. Despite fierce competition for places at left-back, he was sent on loan to Millwall to continue his development.

Millwall manager Neil Harris commented on the injury, expressing disappointment over losing Scanlon, who he described as a “very attack-minded full-back” and a unique asset to the squad.
