Manchester United presented with surprising opportunity for Antony’s transfer replacement as major prospect arises.

The coming months are set to be a defining period for Antony at Manchester United. Since joining the club from Ajax in 2022, the Brazilian has made over 80 appearances. However, his playing time has significantly diminished in recent months, with less than 30 minutes of Premier League action this season during the final stages of Erik ten Hag’s tenure.

The arrival of Ruben Amorim from Sporting CP could mark a turning point for Antony, offering him a chance to revive his United career. Alternatively, the new manager may decide he no longer fits into the squad as he prepares to make changes during upcoming transfer windows. With the January window approaching, Antony will aim to reclaim his spot in the first team and challenge Amad for a place in the starting XI.

Meanwhile, financial turmoil at Lyon has put European clubs on high alert. Reports from Get French Football News reveal that Lyon has been provisionally relegated to Ligue 2 and issued a transfer ban due to mounting debts, which now total €508 million. Without drastic financial improvements, the club faces expulsion from the top flight, potentially forcing them to sell key players at discounted prices in January.

Among those who could leave are 21-year-old attacker Rayan Cherki and 19-year-old winger Malick Fofana. Cherki, in particular, has attracted interest from major clubs, including Liverpool, West Ham, Fulham, PSG, and Borussia Dortmund. A product of Lyon’s academy, Cherki has over 150 senior appearances and can play across the attack, though he primarily operates on the right wing.

With Lyon under pressure to offload talent, Cherki could be a viable option for Manchester United as a replacement for Antony if the Brazilian continues to struggle under Amorim’s management.
