Manchester United star involved in transfer battle as Fenerbahce and Galatasaray reportedly express ‘interest’ with claims of a deal being ‘close’.

Christian Eriksen finds himself at the center of a transfer battle, with two of Turkey’s biggest clubs, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, reportedly expressing interest in the Manchester United midfielder.

Eriksen’s move to United in the summer of 2022, following a successful stint at Brentford, raised some eyebrows. However, his time at Old Trafford has been marked by inconsistent game time under former manager Erik ten Hag, leading to frustrations he voiced earlier this year. During Denmark’s Euro 2024 campaign, Eriksen acknowledged his dissatisfaction, stating, “It’s never fun to sit on the bench. Personally, you always want to be the one chosen first, but at United, there’s always competition for places because of the quality in the squad.”

This season, Eriksen has started five of United’s 11 Premier League matches and three Europa League games but remains unhappy with his playing time. He has also scored twice in the Carabao Cup but faces uncertainty regarding his role under new head coach Ruben Amorim as he approaches the final six months of his contract.

According to Turkish outlet Star, former United manager Jose Mourinho, now at Fenerbahce, has urged the club to pursue Eriksen. Reports suggest Eriksen has “given the green light” to a move, with a deal reportedly close. However, Fenerbahce faces stiff competition from Galatasaray and Ajax, both of whom are also keen on signing the experienced midfielder.
