Ruben Amorim is set to bring a £58m Premier League star to Manchester United instead of Jarrad Branthwaite.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim might push the club’s hierarchy to pursue Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro, according to AS (page 10).

Amorim, recently appointed as United’s head coach, may have to wait until the summer for significant transfer activity. However, speculation persists, with reports suggesting United could target Porro on Amorim’s recommendation.

Porro previously thrived under Amorim during his time at Sporting CP, and the player’s camp believes the duo’s successful partnership could lead to a reunion at Old Trafford. Spurs signed Porro from Sporting for £40 million, and chairman Daniel Levy is unlikely to accept less than £58 million for his departure.

Real Madrid have also shown interest in Porro but are unwilling to meet Tottenham’s valuation.

A Move to United Appears Unlikely

Porro excelled as a right wing-back under Amorim at Sporting, contributing significantly in attack. Since joining Spurs, he has delivered 20 goal involvements in 67 appearances while proving effective defensively.

While he seems a natural fit for Amorim’s system, a deal appears improbable. Levy has consistently avoided selling players to United since Dimitar Berbatov’s move in 2008. Last year, Erik ten Hag’s pursuit of Harry Kane was blocked, with Levy favoring Bayern Munich’s offer.

Given Levy’s stance, it’s unlikely Porro will make the switch to Old Trafford.
