The Chelsea board has informed that a potential £85M signing is prepared for a move to the Premier League.
Anders Limpar has stated that Viktor Gyokeres, the Sporting Lisbon star, has the ability to handle the pressures of playing in the Premier League, and believes it is the right next step for the striker.
The Swedish forward has impressed since joining Sporting from Coventry in July 2023, becoming one of the most formidable strikers in world football, scoring 43 goals for the club last season.
Gyokeres is among the Sporting players who may leave following Ruben Amorim’s departure, with Chelsea reportedly interested in pursuing the former Coventry striker once more.
Limpar, a former Arsenal and Sweden midfielder, is confident that Gyokeres can transition to the Premier League, pointing to his recent hat-trick against Manchester City and his past experience with Coventry.
He added: “We must remember that the Portuguese league is not as strong as the Premier League, but when Manchester City visited Lisbon, he scored a hat-trick, so he’s certainly capable of scoring in England. He has experience with Coventry and understands the English style. I believe his next move is to the Premier League, and he can choose whichever team he wants to join.”
