Liverpool transfer target Jamal Musiala has announced that he is “discussing” a contract extension with Bayern Munich.

There has been speculation about the German international potentially leaving the Allianz Arena at the end of the season, but Musiala has expressed a desire to remain at Bayern Munich:“Yes, I can definitely see myself [signing a new contract]. We are in discussions, and I’m happy here.”Next summer, Musiala will have just a year remaining on his current contract, which has fueled transfer rumors, especially with several Premier League clubs being linked as potential contenders.Four Premier League teams are monitoring Musiala’s situation. Manchester City has been keeping an eye on the 21-year-old for some time, and as of yesterday, Caught Offside reported that Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United are also interested.Based on Musiala’s statements, he seems optimistic about signing a new deal with Bayern, making a move to the Premier League seem less likely for now.Meanwhile, Liverpool is exploring other midfield options. Reports from Spain and Portugal indicate that the Reds have been regularly sending scouts to observe Benfica’s Orkun Kokcu this season. Initially reported at the start of October, it was recently noted that Liverpool scouts were seen watching Kokcu during Benfica’s Champions League match against Feyenoord last Wednesday.Given that Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has previously managed Kokcu, it wouldn’t be surprising if he is interested in bringing him to Anfield. It appears Kokcu might be a more feasible target than Musiala.
